A LEAF FROM INDIAN HISTORY
It was on 20th of May 1498, the Portugal
fleet under the command of Vasco da Gama
first touched the land of India at
Kappakadavu (Kappad), a Beach Town in
present Kozhikode district of Kerala,
located along the Malabar coast.
Thus began the epic journey of Indian Spices
— and the world discovered what India had
known for thousands of years: that the products
of this land are unlike anything found elsewhere.

THE RENAISSANCE
In the 19th Century, archaeologists like
John Marshall and Alexander Cunningham
rediscovered the ancient cities of Harappa
and Mohenjo-Daro — drawing the world's
attention to India's rich cultural heritage
that had been buried for long, breaking the
myth of European superiority.
The artisans of India had been practicing
their crafts unbroken for millennia. The
Bastar Dhokra craft of Chhattisgarh follows
the same technique as the Dancing Girl
sculpture of Mohenjo-Daro (2300–1750 BC) —
an unbroken tradition of 4,000 years.

WHY WE STARTED
India being an agrarian economy took a
paradigm shift towards technology,
neglecting the very fundamentals of
agriculture and handicrafts to which it
owed its glory.
We started this store to reconnect
every Indian — and every person in
the world — to these roots.
To ensure that the artisan in Bastar gets
the same market access as a product on
any global shelf. That the farmer in
Kozhikode gets fair value for pepper
that has no equal in the world.
